Handling Weather Decisions at the Claremont Farmers & Artisans Market

This past Sunday (January 26, 2025), we decided to cancel the market because of concerns about heavy rain. Although forecasts at the time indicated significant risks, we now realize that we probably made the decision too soon. We apologize for the inconvenience this caused and value the feedback from our vendors and community.

Our market manager, Amy Arnold, made calls to vendors as part of the decision-making process. In this case, several vendors expressed concerns about the upcoming forecast. We hoped to make the decision sooner rather than later, ensuring there was plenty of time to notify everyone, post updates on social media, and give vendors a heads-up. While we aimed for timely communication, we acknowledge that this decision may have been made prematurely.

As a nonprofit organization, we strive to make the best decisions with the information available, but we acknowledge when we fall short. Thank you for your patience and continued support.

Sincerely,

Rachel McDonnell, President

Like in Drift Boss, precision matters—every move counts. As a nonprofit, we act with care and the best information we have, but when we miss the mark, we own it. Thank you for staying with us through every turn.

Sincerely,

Rachel McDonnell, President
